processing trauma through my hands by mending images of my husband’s brain tumor

While working with images of my husband’s brain tumor, I was thinking about how my brain works. I have synesthesia- my senses overlap. I feel color. This is most intense when I orgasm. La Petite Mort is an expression of this orgasmic color experience. Since this work is a collaboration, I mixed the work about my husband’s tumor & my orgasms. Between love & death. Tumors, cancer, orgasms- so deeply personal, so individual, so universal, so commonplace. Displayed as specimens- orgasms, like butterflies, are fleeting & occasionally seismic.
